
Learning Outcomes
Participants will acquire comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required to perform the duties of a Ship Security Officer (SSO) in compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. This course equips individuals to develop and implement ship security plans, handle security threats effectively, and ensure compliance with maritime security standards. By the end of the course, participants will confidently manage shipboard security measures, conduct risk assessments, and liaise with port authorities and other stakeholders.

This course covers key areas such as understanding the ISPS Code, identifying potential security threats, managing ship security systems, and implementing security drills. Participants will learn techniques for access control, handling stowaways, and responding to piracy threats. Special focus is placed on reporting procedures, communication protocols, and effective coordination with maritime authorities to enhance overall ship security preparedness.
Participants
The course is tailored for individuals designated as Ship Security Officers, including shipmasters, officers, and crew responsible for onboard security. Prior completion of STCW Basic Safety Training is recommended. A foundational understanding of maritime operations is beneficial but not mandatory. The course is also suitable for professionals looking to advance their expertise in shipboard security management and compliance with international security frameworks.
